What a story, though - a rescued dog, who'd been abandoned and found with a broken leg and a dislocated hip - goes on to be a rescue dog. RIP, Jake.

Jake is a true hero. That is a sad, tear jerking story.

This brings back also the story of Cooper, the bomb-sniffing yellow Lab that was killed in Iraq couple of weeks ago in the line of duty alongside with his handler, Oregon's Cpl. Kory Wiens.

I salute all who made sacrifices to help and defend our country.
