Damn Fine Weekend

Even though it seemed too short, this weekend was one of the better ones in recent memory. Here's why:

  • Awesome housewarming party on Saturday. Some friends of ours moved into this neat house and had a great party with lots of really cool things to munch on, great beer, and great conversation.
  • Steelers won, 34-7. Big Ben with a couple TD passes (including a 63-yarder to Randle El - looks like Latigo Flint is right so far), and Willie Parker just tore things up on the ground. Defense looked good, too, after that first (and only) TD they gave up.
  • Watched The Hudsucker Proxy. Hadn't seen it in a long time. After watching Jennifer Jason Leigh slap Bruce Campbell a couple times, we watched him get banged around in The Man With The Screaming Brain. Great Bruce Campbell film, despite Ted Raimi's somewhat crappy Bulgarian accent. Stacy Keach as the 'mad scientist' Dr. Ivan Ivanovich Ivanov (what a name!) was a pretty brilliant bit of casting. His accent was a little more believeable, and he really looked the part.
  • Got to play with my dogs! Piper and Phoebe were just tearing around the yard yesterday, and I got to throw the football for Phoebe for the first time in a while. Piper just follows Phoebe when she goes after the ball, and a couple times, they were both trotting back to me, each with an end of the ball in her mouth. We got them a long rope bone for them to play tug-of-war with, which they enjoy.
Now, if only my fantasy football team would do a little better...
